Why Aegir?

• Without Aegir it's hard, tedious and error prone to:
• Maintain multiple sites

Installation

• Requires a dedicated server (no shared hosting)
• Does not play well with other CPanel/Plesk/etc
• Install on many OS's well supported and documented
• Debian (Ubuntu) install as simple as  apt-get install aegir

Aegir admin

• Master Aegir admin site
• Controls:
• Servers: manage other Web (Apache/Nginx) or DB
• Platforms: collection of Drupal core and contrib modules
• Sites: instances of platforms

Key site management features

• Importing existing sites
• Creating a site is as easy as creating a new node
• Core/module update are very simple (and auto rollback if failure detected)
• Automatic backup of site db and files locally and off server
• Clone sites to test new development
